Copy Rights in Internet

On occasion of the World Press Freedom Day the National Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan for UNESCO in cooperation with Media Resources Center in Tashkent had organized the National Conference on "Copy Rights in Internet". Forum has provided platform for exchanging of views on future challenges in the field of press freedom development with particular focus on copy rights issues in electronic mass media. The Conference was organized in the Faculty of International Journalism of the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages (Tashkent, 3 May 2006). The Conference was chaired by Prof. Fayzulla Muminov (Masters Programme of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy). Members of the National Parliament of Uzbekistan (Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis), scholars in the field of mass media and intellectual property, professional journalists of Uzbekistan (TV, radio and printing media) and students are participated in the Conference. At the end of the Conference training manuals on "Internet Journalism" (prepared by the Faculty of International Journalism of the Uzbekistan State University of the World Languages, chief editor - Prof. Fayzulla Muminov) and new textbook on "Modern Journalism" (prepared by the Faculty of Journalism of the National University of Uzbekistan, chief editor - Dr. Qudrat Ernazarov), both in Uzbek and Russian languages, were presented to the participants. Publications were printed with support of the Media Resources Center in Tashkent. Participants of the Conference stressed the importance of the publication of various training manuals in the field of mass media in order to develop professional capacity of journalists. It has been recommended to publish a textbook on "History of Journalism", draft of which was also presented at the Conference. Media Resources Center in Tashkent, which was created with support of IPDC Programme of UNESCO in 1997, will publish a new textbook in forthcoming months.
